| | I think that because you already have like a million people with freebies on here, you shouldn't care that one person is not interested. BAMBI There is a reason we are blessed with Two ears and One mouth. As you can see, I have two very small ears and one big mouth.

| Hi there! My first post - I might as well do it on a biggie!!! LOL!
I have just started designing 6 mths ago.Until that time I went through a stage where if I couldn't get it free, I had to do without, then I started purchasing from my favourite designers, who I discovered through their freebies. So in my opinion, for what it's worth - offering freebies MAY get customers to buy if the quality is good.
I do offer the odd qp on my blog, but not so many as I don't have the time - I barely get to scrap anymore *sob sob*. I also have to say that I agree with Kim and that is to see someone use your 'stuff' - purchased or otherwise - is fantastic!!!
That's it!
love and light

| well, intensive discussion here... but sure enough gonna drop a line, too:
both sides that i agree with, BUT:
almost everyone can sell stuff on internet,... and all over the world,... and there are many people in every nation, that can´t understand foreing languages, so as I have a hard time on spanish/french or whatever sites and bloggs,... rarely that i find the downloads, most of the time i leave the page without action.
So is it, that a lot of scrappers are thankfull for finding the word "Freebee/ Freebie",...
And, sure do the designers want to earn money, but I tell you what, i would not sell stuff i love to create,...
sure I love sharing, but I would not ever ask for money doing it... ( my mom asked me to do a 50th Wedding Anniversary Album for her parents in law, and she payed me the material, and after they received their gift they sent me a letter with 50$ and that really made me upset.... it almost hurt my feelings... i love to do this work and make people happy with it....) Well so ..... on internet, there is only time you spend on your work, time is precious, but I still think, this stuff should not be saled.
Thats me, Im done

| I do feel that freebies are really lowering the sales, but because everyone is looking for freebies that is the only way to get people to my site. And perhaps someday someone will buy something. My site is brand new. We have offered just a couple of freebies and couple of kits for sale. Freebies are doing okay, but no one has bought anything yet. But at least people are enjoying our creations and are coming to our site. Maybe in a while we will be able to start selling a little. I am a SAHM and I was hoping to make a bit of money...but I don't know if that will happen. But I think this site is good for new sites...it is a way to get people to our sites at least.

| | wow what an interesting read! I can see it from both sides..I love a freebie, and I do purchase kits that i really love. as a designer myself I think freebies are a fantastic form of advertising, you get your product out there for people to sample it, and see if they like your style. word of mouth is a powerful tool and will do alot of the work for you. it always gives me a warm glow to see someone has used my kits in a tag or a lo. whether it is a freebie or a kit they have purchased. the glow is just the same the fact that someone liked my stuff enough to add it to agallery is simply awesome. i think though that there is soooo much competition out there now that it is getting harder to earn any more than pocket money from selling scrap kits. as the amount of freebies about..and the quality is so good on alot them that you really wouldnt need to purchase a kit ever again. but i think some people will still purchase from their fav designers just to support their work, time and effort. i know i do. |
