I added my first kit on December 8, 2008 and it still has not been uploaded. Can someone please help me figure out why that is?

Do you leave some love when downloading freebies?

Now that I'm a designer (albeit, not a very good one!), I love to know what people think of my kits, etc, and that's why all the links to my freebies direct people to my blog so they can leave comments.

At last look, over 300 people had downloaded my Christening Kit but only 12 comments were left. This makes me sad! :( If people liked the freebie enough to download it, how hard is it to tell the creator that? This is definately not a whinge by all means because I too was guilty of downloading without leaving love but I've since changed my tune and I like to tell the creator what I think if I download their work.

So I'm asking others... do you leave some love when downloading freebies?

What is the best program

I am new to digital scrapbooking and have loved so many FREEBIES on your site. Needless to say I have been using this free software from a site called scrapbookflair.com. Once I have the kit downloaded I can't seem to be able to edit(resize or angle rotate embellishments and such). Therefore I am looking for a software that will support the extension and zip files that I download from here and will allow me to make my pages they way I want the pictures and embellishments angled. Does this all make sense? So let me have it, help to to pick one I am not at all talented like you creative ladies but if I want to angle a flower, (software) let me angle it!! Also as with everything I want the best for my buck as having 7 children to scrapbook for is expensive enough if I want to send to much sweet dear hubby will not be happy!! Thanks for any help you can provide!

How does one use the templates

I am new to digital scrappin and I use the CM Storybook creator plus. I have downloaded some nice freebie papers from here and am wondering how one uses those papers with the template downloads that are available. Is there a class or tutorial I can take as well. I feel really left out of this loop that I can't seem to grasp this digital thing. I don't want to use only quickpages as much as I love them because they are so quick and easy. Thanks for all the help you wonderful ladies have given already.

I need to find just a simple piece of plain white paper. I'm having such a hard time I can't believe there isn't one out there I've looked through so many kits my hands and eyes hurt. If you know of one please help me. I'll be so grateful. This is probably such a simple thing but I really have no clue about digital scrapbooking yet as I'm just starting and don't even know how to make my own. Plus to read some of the tutorials they sound so foreign that I'm scared to even try or know where to start!

New York City, Sock Hop, or Disney Themes?

I have found many great digital kits... especially thanks to Digiscrapdepot! But I'm still having trouble locating some kits that could be appropriate for these pages:

* New York City. I've found "grungy" city themes, but it was a beautiful and wonderful trip that the whole urban feel doesn't quite fit. I'm talking Statue of Liberty... Broadway... the SHOPPING.... you know, the finer aspects of the city! :P

* Sock Hop. We held a 50s Rock N Roll Sock Hop theme party for my Grandmother's 80th birthday! It was lots of fun and we want to great an entire album featuring photos from that day. BUT I can't find any worthy embellishments!

* Disney. Or Princesses. My aunt is taking her 2-year old daughter to WDW this year, so I want to be prepared to create a momento for them with all their pictures when they get back!

Any suggestions would be great and much, much appreciated!!!!!

A Changing Industy - Freebies versus Kits for Sale

I've noticed an emerging change in digital scrapbooking that some of you have probably pondered yourself. Has anybody else noticed that SO MANY people want to design and sell? I know there are a few who are happy to design for free and don't try to join creative teams in order to make money from their designs. I'm one of the others. I've seen what others are selling and have wondered why I couldn't do the same thing. Like some of you out there, I am a stay-at-home Mom. Any opportunity to make money from home (legitimately, mind you -- not the phoney work-at-home schemes) is a hope-provoking idea.

So naturally, my first rejected attempts to join a creative team were heart-wrenching ones. I actually took a break from designing kits because I thought it was a lost cause. A waste of time. Then one day I went back to my blog to read comments left by those who had downloaded some of my kits. They seemed to really appreciate what I was doing. It made me feel good about my previous efforts, despite the fact that my work was "too digital" (according to one store administrator's rejection e-mail.)

I love what Vicky is doing with this site. She's managed to open up the world of digital scrapbooking to more than just a select few. The quality of the work has become so much better over the course of just a few months. You can tell that the designers truly care about their finished product.

As for me, I've learned so much in the past six months about colors and patterns and what seems realistic. I've learned so many techniques through free tutorials and paid subscription tutorials. There is SO much information out there now.

The big question is this. Are we headed towards a freebie-only marketplace for digital scrapbooking kits? If so, who suffers? Or does anybody? I don't have an answer. I do know that I am probably one of many new designers who is willing to put their work out for free if no one is willing to pay a dollar or two to get it. Because I think the pleasure I get from putting together a good kit plus the comments I receive afterwards probably outweigh the financial gains I might see if I were to actually sell that kit from an online store.

So what is your take on this subject? Is the growing popularity of digital scrapping going to make digiscrap designers a coveted branch of the scrapbooking industry? Or will everything eventually be free to download? Will the money be made in designing filters, patterns, brushes and/or templates for designers?

JPG vs PNG

I was just wondering if others have thoughts on the JPG or PNG format for paper. I love making paper designs....but by time you make 6 in PNG (3200) format, the zip files are HUGE. The take forever to upload and I am sure forever to download. So what is the consensus ? Bigger format or faster download?

i have downloaded a couple of freebies and downloaded them into a folder on my desktop i have adobe pse 7.0 but when i go to open up my folder in adobe 7.0 it is blank but i can open up the folder on its own the freebies are their, do these freebies not work in adobe 7.0? then i wanted to know is there anything out there that i can get that tells you in simple terms step by step on how to do digi scrapping? i have treid to figure it out on my own but cant. i would really like to do this but have not found anything simple. thanks for any help i appreciate

First off your great people with some wonderful creative juices :-) !!! But I have a problem ... I am a fulltime factory working grandma who needs to get sleep & download what I like at the same time.

Is there anyway through the download manager I have that I can do that or will 4share always block that out ... or is there a way of using 4share to do this .. or another program ???

Please help this tired grammy out & she might even be able to afford some cash love because of the money I am able to save :o=) lol

Today, the freebies section was down for a bit while the server was being upgraded. It was then that I realized how much I had come to look forward every morning to checking out the newest freebies. It's become part of my morning ritual along with reading the paper and having 2 cups of coffee.

Vicky, I love your freebies section. Your thumbnails are the best out there, I love the way the section looks and how easy it is to see all of the details of each freebie. How Do I?

Hi everyone! Im new to digi scrapping and I was wondering which program you use to actually make the layouts. I opened a backgroud paper in my scrapbooking program (by nova) and then when i opened one of the embellishments there was white around it. Is that because im using the wrong program or do i need to edit the white out in any program? Any help would be great. Thanks :D

For this kind of art I'm looking for scrapstuff that I may use in my tutorials. And if it's possible to share the materials I use for the tutorial with people who are making my tuts. First I'd put a link in my tuts to the weblogs from the kits I used, but I get so many mails of downloadlinks that expired, that it's not working, and a lot of work to rewrite tuts.

Hackers destroying stores and gallery

Just wanted to let people know that hackers destroyed Digitalscrapgirl site recently. Nayyan and Monja are currently rebuilding the site from scratch. Apparently the whole site was lost - store as well as the gallery with everyones layouts.

They didn't steal anything - only destroyed the whole site. Why would anyone do such a terrible thing?

Anyway the site should be back hopefully in about a week or so.

I have downloaded a few "pre packaged" groups of embellishments--a card of different ribbons for example. I don't know how to "ungroup" the group and be able to just use one.

I'll promise that this is the last question of the day, and I would really appreciate some help for this "newbie"

I have found some great templates, and downloaded them. When I put them on my workspace and then try to add a patterned paper nothing happens. The paper just fills the entire space. I know I must be doing something wrong--but for now I'm just printing off the template, and then arranging my stuff in a similar layout. There must be a more simple way!

I am rather new to this digi scrapping, and having a ton of fun "going shopping" In fact my husband is thrilled when I go out shopping this way as opposed to getting in the car and hitting my scrapbooking stores, he says it is easier on the budget!

Anyhow, enough about my anti-shopping husband!

I have found some blogs that offer freebies, and when I have clicked on them to download the 4Share window opens, and instead of there being a zip icon, there is a bitty little icon that I can best describe as being a small stack of fabric, red and blue and a ribbon tying them together. I can't seem to open these files and I'm finding that some of them are really so good I would be willing to add whatever I need to my computer to make this type of file compatablie with my system. Any suggestions?

I am putting out a call for designers to do a collab kit with me. I have a color table and would like the theme be Christmas, with the kit ultimately being called Christmas Exquisite. The colors will be deep jewel tones and gold. Each collab kit would have to have a minimum of 6 papers and 24 elements. I would also like to check out your work to make sure that our styles won't clash. If you are interested, please email me or PM me with a link to your blog or store so I can get a peek at your work and we can get to talking. Remember that the kit will have to be a freebie because I don't sell my work!!!

In this round there are 5 kits available with all funds going to the designers nominated charity. Mine is Cancer Society as I feel this effects everyone some time or another whether it be ourself or family and friends. I'm glad I could help out.
