Great Site Idea

First I'd like to say 'hi' and tell you how much I appreciate and adore your site! It is wonderful and generous of you to donate so much time so others can scrap for free. Thank-you.

One thing I've always wished for at all online scrapbookingtores is a simple SEARCH ENGINE THAT SEARCHES BY COLOR.

Some kits, quickpages, elements, etc. are mostly made using one color. Color is such an important thing when formulating your scrap ideas and it would be ideal to be able to search for "blue, quickpage" or "purple, kit". It would save SO much time!

I know you donate a lot of time as it is and likely have trouble paying for this site at times... so feel bad suggesting something that would take up more of your time and money to institute. Just it would be a great thing for myself and others I'm sure.

P.S. I've checked out many freebie 'collection' sites and yours is by far the best!!! You're more organized, offer more content and have quality previews. You should win an award for what you do! Just adding a suggestion on how to make a great site even better... :)

i absolutely love this forum and all the great resources that the designers greatfully offer. so i hate to sound like a complainer, but i am a little frustrated.

my first issue is that i thought we were supposed to add the DIRECT LINK to our blog for the freebie, not our general blog address. i spend more time "hunting" for the freebie than anything else. i understand the designers want us to look at their blog, but i didn't think that this was what this forum was for.

also, i wish somewhere in the freebie description, the designers would notate whether or not the freebie was tagger or scrap size. so many times, after i have downloaded, i find that i can't use the item and end up deleting it, b/c it is the wrong size. don't get me wrong, some designers specify, but most don't.

again, i don't like to complain, but i just had to bring it up, b/c i wasted so much time yesterday for these reasons. i hope no one will take offense, but maybe we could all comply and everyon'e time here will be most pleasant.

Suggestion- Limit catergories for freebies

I am sure everyone has clicked on freebies, then picked a theme- say military- only to find a ton of pink, glittery, girly, flowery stuff that obviously isn't military themed. Then you look at the top and realize the poster has checked every single box when posting the freebie. Is there any way to limit it to say 5 catergories? I mean, even a big huge colorful baby kit could go under kids, boy, girl, baby boy, baby girl, and maybe birthday- too many people are clicking each and every box and that makes it really hard when you are looking for something specific. Not sure how much of a PITB that would be if it is even possible, but wanted to throw it out there. Thanks.

I wonder if you are or were planning on a search engine for this site, sometimes i just dont want to scroll 16 pages to find a layout or anything that i only remember by name ?! and a engine to type in the name... would really be helpfull ?!

Missing Blinkie Art

Hello, I tried to snag the digiscrap depot blinkie for my blog. When I pulled the page up, the art was missing (the lovely red x is all that showed). I pasted the HTML code into my blog and got the same red x. Any idea why?

I've noticed that some people are posting their layouts and/or freebies to the "Designer Resources" section. It's not a huge problem...but it is a little annoying to find something that seems to be just what I'm looking for....only to find that it's not a designer resource after all! :ermm:

Just thought I'd mention it so that anyone who posts kits, layouts, general freebies etc to that particular section is aware of where they're actually posting it.

I make only Freebies and my downloads never expires.

Many times I want to get a Freebie, and when I go to the website, the link is expired.

Is it possible for these designers to add a date when the link is expired??

I'm not angry, but sometimes a bit dissapointed when I see something beautiful!!:crying:

You may experience some small errors in the website after we have switched over to this new one. Thomas is doing his best to catch all the errors if there are any. We rely on you to tell us if you experience something that usually was working before so he can fix it.

Mega Collaboration Freebie

Sorry if this has been suggested before - I did take a look but couldn't find anything.

Many of the big digistores seem to be into collaborations these days and I thought it might be fun to have one at DigiScrapDepot - a huge Mega Collaboration Freebie :w00t:

We would need to decide on a date and a theme and how to get some publicity. Then we all go away and design a freebie of our own from the theme given and upload them all to DigiScrapDepot on the same day. No pressure or promises to upload would be needed - and all freebies big or small could be included.

What do you think? I'd like to suggest Sunday 23rd December as Mega Freebie Day, but haven't any ideas yet on a theme. Would the admins at DigiScrapDepot help by advertising it on the site?

Wouldn't this make a great Christmas present to us all.

Gallery - What for? Suggestion

Wow I am so please that the site is back and operational. I have so missed it. LOL said isn't it - not having the link to all those wonderful freebies and also having no where to post my own freebies.

Anyway, beside that - while the site was down I had a look at the blog and discovered that the Gallery is meant to be for layouts done using the any of the freebies on offer to further promote them. It apparently is not meant for any layout but only to promote the freebies.

My suggestion is this: at the top when you click into the gallery tab. to put something in the description at the top to say Gallery only for layouts using freebies listed at this site - or something to that effect. This would make it clearer to everyone what sort of gallery it is - freebie layouts only.

Anyway, it is just a thought so there would be no confusion and therefore not take up extra valueable space.

Congratulations on such a wonderful site. Don't worry about the advertising. Site like this must take alot of time and money and has to be paid somehow. Much better to keep it free and use advertising to pay instead. Excellent idea.

Keep up the excellent work. What would we do without you. Thank you so much.

On the freebies frontpage would it be possibility to add a "Designer Resources" to the sections list (Alphas, Embellishments, Theme Kits, etc.). It might help those designers who are looking for free design resources...especially new designers. I think designer resources is an area many freebie designers haven't really broken into. They could state in their terms of use whether those items are available for commerical use or are strictly for freebie design use (which is probably where mine would fall).

Whatcha think? I have a growing file of "templates" from my own stock photos and scans...I find myself more and more tempted to share as the file gets increasingly larger.

I thought maybe to get the gallery "some more showing" that we have a "Layout of the week- or month??" and maybe have it displayed for all to see for that specific week??? Can have the dates here in the forum under it' own thread- and then the "link" with the name of the winner under each week for people to find??? It will draw more people to the gallery too???? Any suggestions on this? Or what do you guys feel?;)

Signature Mix up!!

I was just browsing the forum and noticed that in the August "Family and Friends" challenge that the signature blinkies have been mixed up! I noticed that Charlie54 now has my blinkie and I have one that belongs to Mooncatcher!

On my homepage it shows my own blnkie, so I guess it just got mixed up in the forum somehow??? It's no big deal really, just thought I'd mention it here.:)

Know what? When in the control part of our personal freebie lists, it would be nice if we had the ability to control what order things are shown in. This would be especially helpful for those of us who release kits in chunks and pieces....or for the designer who might release a quick page that goes with a kit, but they release it a few weeks later. They could then place the QP next to the kit it goes with instead of having it at the top of the list.

Well I know we had english at school, but for a lot of digiscrappers english is not our native language. So maybe it's an idea to make some corners of this forum for different languages, so when somebody has a problem, it could be explained in their own language.
